Oats are a huge part of New Zealand food history. If you think about it, we use them as a base for lots of iconic Kiwi foods and dishes such as the famous golden crunchy ANZAC biscuit, as part of the scrummy goodness on fruit crumbles (everyone secretly only eats the crumble), and of course, as our favourite oaty breakfast – the good old family pot of porridge – and as nana would say it “you can never have too much cream and brown sugar”.
Here’s a history fact for you – New Zealand owned, grown and operated oat brand Harraways has been providing Kiwis with delicious oats for the last 150 years! That’s a lot of bloody oats!
To celebrate this awesome milestone we’ve come up with a delicious versatile recipe that you will all enjoy for generations to come. That statement was a bit overboard but you get the point – this recipe will be a hit with the whanau.
Our Crunchy Oven Baked Superfood Muesli recipe has the perfect balance of crunchy golden oats, paired with a whole bunch of super food ingredients like Chia seeds (Omega-3 fatty acids, Protein, Fiber, Antioxidants), Psyllium husk (Dietary fiber), Cashew nuts (Iron, Zinc, Selenium), Cacao nibs (Flavonoids, Antioxidants, Magnesium, Potassium) and is flavoured with delicious Manuka honey that we all know has its own amazing health benefits.
This muesli makes a perfect break, lunch or dessert option to have as we head into the cold winter season (especially if it’s fresh out the oven).
Be sure to tag us @JAYANDSARAHNZ so we get to see your yummy muesli creations.
