Summer is the ultimate entertaining season – but something we’re not too keen on is spending a long time in the kitchen prepping food because we want to be outside having fun in the sun!
To celebrate this year’s Best Foods National BBQ Day that kicks off Sunday 4th of March, we’ve created a variety of fresh and delicious BBQ recipes to give you inspo for the summer. So far we’ve created a Grilled Peach and Chilli Cauliflower Rice Salad and Honey Soy Veggie Kebabs with Herb Dipping Sauce, and below we have a great starter recipe.
Our flavoursome Smoked Fish Starter recipe will definitely impress your guests. It’s super easy to make and you can whip it up fast for people to snack on while you’re waiting for the main BBQ food to cook.
The hero of this recipe is obviously the creamy smoked fish topping – it’s a great way to showcase your fresh catch. If the fish aren’t biting we sometimes use some smoked fish or good quality canned tuna (cheap hack). It also has a good balance of savoury, lemon and smoky flavours that of course makes you want to eat more.
For this recipe, you would normally use dairy (cream cheese or sour cream) to make the filling like a thick paté – but we’re making it easier and cutting down on the dairy by using good old school Best Foods mayo.
We have two BBQ packs worth $80.00 to give away that include a $50 food voucher, Best Foods mayo and a Heller’s voucher. To enter, simply comment below and tell us what your go to entertaining dish is.
Competition closes on 28.1.18
Open to NZ residents only.
Thanks to Best Foods for collaborating with us on this recipe blog.
